The next few days, Jayden stayed away from me and hung out with Gareth. I couldn’t blame him. I did what I had to do for the show and stayed with Harley a lot. I met with a few of the other acts that were probably going to be gone by the time the finale rolled around. Scott Stupid stayed away from me as well. He tried to talk to me once and I essentially growled at him. Then I sicced Buster on him. It was so nice to have big, burly, scary bodyguards on hand. We were taping live tonight for the double elimination round and the guys and I were dressed in our usual touring attire: ratty jeans and our band’s shirt. I had my signature biker boots on and the makeup lady was slathering my face in cover-up.

“You have beautiful skin, Mr. Jett,” she said sincerely as she smeared concealer under my eyes.

“Thank you.” Sure I did. Now.

“Don’t forget the blush on his cheekbones,” Harley chuckled.

“Five minutes, guys!” Stan shouted.

Gareth leaned over the back of my chair and smiled at our reflections. “You look so pretty.”

“So do you, Munchkin.”

Gareth frowned and I laughed.

“Let’s go!” Sebastian walked through the room. “Up, up! We have somewhere to be!” He clapped his hands as he exited the room on the other side.

I stood up and teased the front of my hair a bit. I turned and regarded all the guys. “Ready?”

We were going to play our number one hit from our last album, Blood, Sweat and Fear. Then, whoever won, we’d be playing with them. I was still a little shy on stage. Thankfully, I was the drummer and could hide behind the set. Sort of.

We walked on stage to screams and cheers. The five of us bowed and then got ready. Sebastian introduced us to more screaming and shouting and then Gareth looked over his shoulder at me. I hit my sticks together and we rocked the damn house. I spotted Jayden’s guys right in the front row, but no Jayden. As we finished, the crowd went crazy. I jogged up to the front of the stage and bowed with the guys. Sebastian walked out and shook our hands. He turned to the cameras.

“All right! Start voting now! The window is open for twelve hours, so get your Tweets in and don’t forget to vote on our official page!”

The finalists lined up on stage as Sebastian introduced them. Jericho and Zeke got the loudest applause, along with cheers and whistles. I crossed the stage and headed behind the curtains. Jayden’s guys were walking toward the dressing rooms and I caught up to them.

“Hey, where’s Jayden?” I asked one of them.

“He’s not here,” a dark-haired guy answered.

“I got that,” I said in exasperation. “Do you know where he is?”

“Nope.”

They all began walking again.

“That’s a lie. I know you have that stalking app!”

The brown-haired guy turned around and stared at me. “How do you know?”

“Ah, must have been talking to you that night.
